TOLEDO, OH – St. Ursula Academy’s annual Intramurals competition day is set to take place on April 26, 2024. Preparations are underway this week, as the themes of each class were just announced.
The Class of 2024 have chosen So Pink Seniors, a Barbie theme. Likely inspired by the recent “Barbie” movie, there are a wide variety of possibilities for this year’s theme. When asked about her thoughts on the Barbie concept, senior Cecilia Chowdhary shared that she is excited about her final Intramurals.
“I can’t wait to explore this year’s opportunities and I think we could even win!” says Chowdhary, hopeful for this year’s festivities.
“Intramurals has always been something to look forward to, and I’m happy to say that this is our final theme,” says Chowdhary.
The junior class selected a “Mamma Mia” inspired theme, calling themselves the Just One Look! Juniors. Influenced by the cherished film, it is clear that the juniors will surely “Take A Chance On…” this theme until “The Winner Takes It All.”
As for the underclassman, the sophomore class chose a topical event, adopting the theme of Super Bowl Sophomores. Whether the sophomores are Chiefs or Forty-Niners fans, they are all hoping for the win.
Competing in their first Intramurals, the freshmen selected Firefighter as their theme. Will the freshmen be able to cool off the competition and have a win under their belt? All will be seen on April 26, the big competition day!
With a week full of festivities planned, this year’s Intramurals Week begins on Monday, April 22, 2024.
The beloved tradition of St. Ursula Academy’s Intramurals has a storied history. Over the years, challenges and competitions have varied greatly. Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, each of the high school classes would decorate respective bathrooms and hallways to their themes.
However, it is not just the spirit of competition being bolstered during Intramurals Week, as the bonds between each class are strengthened as well. In the years post-2020, the re-introduction of friendly rivalries and previously adored traditions continue to keep the spirit of Intramurals alive.
