SUA Intramurals Kick-off

Grace Rawlings ’26

April 19 kicked off SUA’s 2024 Intramural events, filling the fieldhouse with soaring anticipation for the coming week.

During the Kick-Off, each class's mascots were introduced along with some important reminders about intramurals. Some of these reminders include donating to the school period drive and bringing in items for the school picnic on the Friday of Intramurals.

Next, members of the SUA basketball team took on the faculty and staff in a lively game with Mrs. Hinshaw commentating. The Fresh Prince faculty and staff took home the victory against the Arrow student players.

After that, the volleyball preliminary games took place, narrowing down which classes would be competing for first, second, third and fourth during Intramurals on Friday. The So Pink Seniors played the Superbowl Sophormes while the Just One Look Juniors played the Firefighter Freshmen.

After the kick-off preliminary games, it was determined that the seniors and juniors will compete for first and second place while the freshman and sophomores compete for third and fourth on Friday.

However, the Intramural Kick-Off is just the beginning of a fun-filled week of activities and competitions for Arrows. On April 22 through 26, there will be dress themes for the entire school to follow to win your respective class Intramural points.

These themes include; Minion Monday, Teen Beach Tuesday, Whoville Wednesday, Dress Your Class theme Thursday, and Intramural Shirt Friday.

Mrs. Gasser, an Intramurals moderator, and Molly Malone, a student council member, together stated “the best things you can do to support your class during intramurals is sign up for events, participate, and cheer loud.”
